Hawaii 2021

This trip was originally planned for Maui in May 2020, but due to the pandemic, we were forced to postpone the vacation. Fast forward 7 months and the state of Hawaii was accepted travellers with a negative test within 72 hrs of departure. There were some additional expenses and some additional hoops to jump through but we had the opportunity and seized it. We changed destinations and headed for Oahu instead.

Oahu - Day 1 - Travel, Ox Tail, Aulani

It was an early morning as the flight left LAX about 8:30 am. When we landed, Sonya had her heart set on trying the Ox Tail Soup from The Alley Restaurant at Aiea Bowl from the show Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives and it didn't disappoint. From there we headed to Costco, which was close the hotel, to get supplies for the week to save money. Once we got our food/water for the week we packed up our rental minivan and headed to Disney's Aulani Resort.

Oahu - Day 2 - Pearl Harbor & Waikiki

On the second day, the original plan was go to deep sea fishing but due to weather, we moved fishing to Wednesday. We were able to adjust plans on the fly between fishing and scuba diving and get in our planned activities. We got lucky and got the last spots on the boat at Pearl Harbor to visit the memorial USS Arizona. We also spent time at the International Market on Waikiki Beach, but it wasn't the same I remembered 18 yrs before, very commercialized. We enjoyed some great food a Duke's Waikiki before heading back to the hotel.
